I panicked when I found out that the top of our cactus wasn’t broken and saw Dusty eating it. Why panic? Because it’s a San Pedro Cactus, which in large quantities can make you hallucinate. Historically, this cactus has been used as a sacrament for more than 3,000 years in the Andes. It’s also been used by healers to diagnose and cure illnesses. As much as i think that’s all really cool, It’s not my intention to use it for anything other than a special plant in our garden, as it’s been in my family for years. Luckily, Dusty didn’t eat enough to affect him. I monitored him closely all day to be safe. I also moved them farther away from the fence line so I wouldn’t have to worry about him taking a trip to Woodstock 💫🪐. I try SO hard to keep our animals safe, but then they turn into giraffes and eat 4 feet over a fence. 😂
